A Junior Nanny is a less experienced child carer than a fully-fledged Nanny. A Junior Nanny is often newly trained with less than two years’ childcare experience.
Typically, a Junior Nanny can undertake all tasks related to the care of children, but it is recommended that they are more suitable for shared charge. Many of our Junior Nannies work alongside a team of Nannies or work as a mothers’ help. They serve as loving, nurturing and trustworthy companions to the children in the household.
Duties
- A Junior Nanny often works in partnership with a parent offering a combination of shared care and sole charge.
- A Junior Nanny provides care and educational development for children from birth to 7 years old.
- A Junior Nanny covers all nursery duties, including children’s laundry, preparation of nutritional meals and maintain the cleanliness of the children’s room and belongings.
- A Junior Nanny may be expected to teach basic social, reading and writing skills to older children in the household.
- A Junior Nanny plans and organises stimulating and age appropriate activities for children.
- A Junior Nanny may be required to escort the children to school and supervise homework.
Working Hours of a Junior Nanny
A live-in Junior Nanny usually works Monday to Friday for 10 to 12 hours a day, they will be at the start of their career, either newly qualified in childcare or with only one to two years’ experience in childcare.
A live-out Junior Nanny usually works Monday to Friday for 10 hours a day.
Salary of a Junior Nanny
The average salary range for a live-in Junior Nannyis £300 to £400 net per week.
The average salary for a live-out Junior Nanny is usually £10 to £12 per hour.
