A Tutor is a specialist private educator, who assists students academically within their private home on a one-to-one basis. A Tutor is often engaged when a student is struggling with a particular subject or wishing to excel in a certain subject or subjects. The role of a Tutor is to assist, evaluate, motivate, develop and integrate their student’s learning.

Duties of a Tutor
A Tutor provides one-to-one tutorage sessions within the home.
A qualified Tutor will have a teaching background or an extensive track record of tutoring specific subjects and have an extensive knowledge of specific subjects.
A Tutor may be required to teach English as a foreign language, prepare students for entry into leading school, schools, colleges, universities or tutor a range of subjects and languages, such as maths, science etc., as in accordance with the national curriculum.

Working Hours of a Tutor
A Tutor may be employed by a family full-time, or work part-time for a number of families. Part-time Tutors are responsible for arranging and managing their own schedules. A full-time Tutor works on average 35 to 40 hours a week.
